Our Journey to Marceline, Missouri

Last Wednesday, Zach Sears ( and I had the pleasure of going on a D23 event right here in the state of Missouri!

We traveled by bus from Kansas City to the quaint hometown of Walt Disney, Marceline.

We also recorded a special Marceline edition of Discussing Disney last night and I will let you know when it is available! It will go more into detail than my captions on the slideshow.

We started off our morning bright and early. We left St. Joseph at around 6:15 in the morning to make the 7:30 check in at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City. We didn't get back to Kansas City until around 11:15.

I decided the best way to tell about the day is through pictures.

Here is a slideshow of most of my pictures throughout the day, be sure to pay attention to all of the captions because they tell the story of the day!

Like I said in the captions, my favorite part of the trip was seeing the Midget Autopia ride track that was brought in from Disneyland. I am a huge fan of the parks and that was the neatest part for me. I thought it was also neat to learn that Walt had repurchased land in Marceline and planned to build a education, rural-type theme park there. Unfortunately he died before he could get the job done and everyone in the Disney Company was so busy with other projects that they eventually sold the land back.

I would definitely recommend that any Disney Fan in the state of Missouri should make this short trip to Marceline, the people were great and there is so much Disney history to soak in!
