So many people plan to go to Walt Disney World and don't even blink an eye when they think of Epcot.
Of course everyone loves Magic Kingdom. That's understood. But if you're going to WDW, and not making a trip over to Epcot, you are making a mistake. There's plenty for people of all ages to like- that means you too!
I'm not going to get into all of the park and the rides today- that would make this an extremely long post- but I will get into the part of Epcot that I personally love.
Epcot is also home to the World Showcase. The World Showcase is made up of pavilions for these eleven countries:
Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada. (Check out my previous post about my favorite restaurants in the World Showcase)
At each "country," you can find goods and merchandise from each place, as well as workers from that country. It's so awesome to be able to visit "Italy," and have discussions about life in that country with one of the employees.
(Here's a tip- you can do something similar at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had a wonderful conversation with a worker who was outside at the savanna. She was from a country in Africa, and told us some wonderful stories while we searched for some of the animals after a dinner at Jiko.)
One of my husband's favorite things to do is purchase a packaged snack or food product from a country each time we visit. You can find all sorts of unique products this way. Last time we visited, he bought some sort of mixed cookies from Germany. The chocolate on them was delicious.
IllumiNations is also a wonderful fireworks show. I pulled these facts from Disney. You'll find at the IllumiNations fireworks show:
- The Inferno Barge, a liquid-propane mechanism that launches balls of fire 60 feet into the air
- The 350,000-pound Earth Globe, the world's first spherical video display system
- Jim Cummings—the voice of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and other Disney characters—narrating this nighttime spectacular
